XC meese and Edelweiss randonee

On Wednesday, Rosie and I did a little kicking and gliding, trying to take an improvisational route to Phelps Lake. Didn't make it, but saw a moose, pretty close. The moose was not interested in us at all, and we been in that spot for a few minutes before we even realized he was there. On the way back, we swung wide to give him extra room, which brought us...into the path of another moose.

On Thursday, Rosie and I skied Edelweiss and Telemark Bowl off Teton Pass.

Sliding off the pass into Mail Cabin Crk.

And skinning the back of Edelweiss.

How's the visibility?

Pat was there too.

Skiing Grand Targhee

On Tuesday, Rosie and Irene and I skied the super-scenic Grand Targhee.

Mountains far off in Idaho:

This mountain looks like a flat-topped mesa, but it must be some sort of mirage effect:

If you end up in an avalanche or falling off one of the 200-300 foot cliffs beyond this gate, you can't say you weren't warned.

Rosie bootpacking up Mary's Nipple, an inbounds hike-to area.

Main area of the resort, Fred's Mountain, in the background.

I was there too.

The drive back down the access road.

Jackson Hole Day 1

Rosie and I are in Jackson now, visiting her family. We got here by airplane...

The town of Needham, from the air. Cutler Park is the green area between 128 and the Charles River, just south of the pond (Kendrick Pond) in the center of the image. The Town Forest is at the far left, center, of the image, east and south of the brown grassy field. Our house is just left and below Rosemary Lake, near the center of the photo.

On our first day here, we took a run on Mt Glory, Teton Pass. Rosie motoring the bootpack:

Rosie continuing to motor:

From the top, the view over into Little Tuckerman Ravine.

Windy up top.

We skied Second Turn. I didn't take any photos on the way down due to camera battery dying.
