At Frank's house in Omaha!

Rosie and I spent our third night on the road at Frank's house in Omaha and right now we're drinking coffee on his back deck. The trip has been going great, car's running well, and gas prices have been good. Now I have a chance to opent he computer and shuffle photos around. More can be found at www.picasaweb.com/allenp2.

Packing the night before leaving.

 Right before leaving.

Sammy looks happy because he doesn't yet realize he's going to be cooped up here for days on end.

Our first state line.

Rosie's getting better and better at driving the Ru.

Lake Erie sunset, across the road from our campsite.

Westfield/Lake Erie KOA. A good campsite, except there was road noise from a state route on one side and the Thruway on the other.

Into Cleveland.

We camped at the grungy White Oak campground in Utica, IL. Area "G" (they really like quotation marks) was nothing to write home about but it was quiet.

Main St, Utica, IL.

Lunch time.

Wind farmland. These things are staggeringly huge and everywhere in western Iowa. Trucks were constantly driving in the opposite direction carrying turbine blades for a project somewhere. Each blade is about as long as about three normal tractor trailer trucks and it carried on a huge flatbed. They remind me of the skeleton of the fins of a huge whale hanging from the ceiling of the Harvard Natural History Museum.
