Gulf of Slides in early spring sun

On Thursday, Erik and I got after it in the Gulf of Slides. Erik's first time there and my first time in several years. This was a beautiful early spring day with a mixture of corn and a veneer of windbuff, and temps warm enough that I never wore anything more than two layers of capilene on top. Full conditions, with great skiing all the way out the approach trail.

We started off with Gully #2.

A panoramic Erik shot on his phone.

I took it nonstop, burning about 1200 feet in 25 seconds. It was good snow.

For our second run, we cut over on the low road to the bowl area.

Erik getting ready to ski with Wildcat in the background.

Tracks from our first run in the bowl.

We took a second run in the bowl. Boott Spur in the background.

Cranking up some warm windbuff.

Walking an icy tightrope, skinning across to Boott Spur.

It's great being up high in the Presi's. Skiing from Boot Spur, then down into Gully #3. Cranmore and Attitash in the background.

Erik surfing in a sea of death nuggets knocked off from the thin crust layer on the surface.

Finished off Gully #3 with a fun streambed exit I'd forgotten about, then hooked a left onto the approach trail, which was velvety bumps. Skied around 5200 vertical feet for the day, and went back to Bridgton to get ready to do it again tomorrow.
