A vacation from our vacation -- part 2

For our second day in Sun Valley, Rosie and I went mountain biking with Mark and Ryland, who live in Jackson but happened  to be on a vacation of their own in Ketchum. After a rough start related to concerns about the amount of wildfire smoke we might be breathing, followed by a discouraging mechanical on Mark's bike, we eventually took off up the very well-engineered River Run trail up the ski resort mountain, Bald Peak (Baldy).

Wow, that is a huge flower arrangement!

Rosie chugging up the mountain. We are too cool to ride the gondola.

After about 1800 feet of climbing for 1500 feet of relief above our starting point, we began descending the Warm Springs trail. Similar to the ascent, it's a long series of switchbacks, over near the looker's right end of the resort.

The camera was on auto-HDR mode instead of rapid frame rate mode, and I ended up with this interesting shot of Mark.

We went up River Run, across on the Traverse, and down Warm Springs.

Afterward, we went to a bar/hamburger stand with the fascinating name of "Grumpy's". And I think the joke of "Sorry, we're open" is officially out of the bag. In the past year we've seen it many places, including Istanbul.
